Check out this holiday exclusive!! Have you tried either product yet? Tell us what you think! My all-time MAC lip product is still their lip glass – and their makeup remover wipes are a must-have.
If you haven’t been to their Robertson location yet – that’s a lot of fun. Paige premium denim, Intermix and the Newsroom Cafe (or the Ivy if you feel like star-gazing and dropping some serious dough) are a great LA way to spend the afternoon.
Our Black Magick Vanity Mixer pretties walked out with some serious SWAG. As in full-size (in some cases, back-bar sized!) “samples” of this local, organic, vegan Argan Oil line. When Tania @untamedinstincts and I were setting up, she said, “Who left these boxes in the hallway when we have an event tonight?” Well- those boxes (as in 5 big ones) turned out to be all these luscious goodies from this line. She styled my hair with the setting spray, and it held all night.
I learned about this cool, hand-made line at our Black Magick Vanity Mixer. She’s a local, female entrepreneur too – love it!
I discovered this educator and purveyor of wild-harvested teas at our Black Magick Vanity Mixer the other week. We sat at the tea bar at Sweet 9 Hair Salon and the Teaometry master brewed up a batch of 8-year old tea from the South of China.
And don’t worry if you can’t make it to our neck of the woods for the experience (although it is pretty cool) … he sells his artisan teas online.
Hollywood Scenester gave us a little mixer love for the Black Magick vanity mixer co-hosted by Tania @untamedinstincts and yours truly at Sweet 9 Salon on Melrose. It was a boho chic beauty sampler and included makeup artistry by @glamourlush, our signature pout bar featuring OCC Lip Tars being (custom hand mixed by @glamourlush herself) on a paw pallette for each guest), jewelry by Coker Jewelry, henna tats by Opal Moon, candles by Vestacha and serious samples from DermOrganic. Like full-size, back bar OMG they’re so big samples.
On the refreshment front Viva Los Cupcakes had THE most interesting flavors, like pineapple tamale inspired confections and Teaometry shares his vitner-esque obsessionf for the tea leaf for all who chose to have that experience.
Kourtney & Kim Take NYC
Some things take time, we know it. We just had an Orange County hubby buy his wife’s Black Broadway Desk after seeing it on “Kourtney & Kim Take NYC” for her birthday present.
A friend of mine, @GlampreneurGirl (who received her Master’s in digital marketing) once told me that “success is when your social media community begins to carry you.” I didn’t really understand it until our vanities were shown on this Kardashian show again.
It was YOU guys who let me know that Kim had shown it on her show again. I was in the middle of the Nevada desert on our way home from Sundance when you began Tweeting and FB me – and one of you even snapped a picture of your telly!
Tania aka @untamedinstincts hosted a great Black Magic vanity mixer at Sweet 9 salon last night on Melrose Avenue. I love these intimate settings where I really have a chance to chat with people (especially other like-minded local entrepreneurs that are out there hustling too!)
And of course -it was a beauty sampler with hair by @untamedinstincts, makeup and OCC pout bar by @glamourlush and yours truly and lots of other really cool things that I’ll be sharing in the next few days. (They also glam-squadded me for the event, so I’ll post some pics later so you can see their talent)!
It’s Small Business Saturday – so shop local my beauties! xo
The Spa: The Spa by PARESA
The Treatments: We kept it simple here and opted for a short, but indulgent, foot massage. After all the touring we did throughout Bangkok and flying to Phuket, my tootsies were ready for a little TLC. The treatment room was a doubles suite, and MB and I each had our own therapist who wrapped towels around our calves and feet to loosen the tight muscles. Aromatherapy oil was then slathered over feet and legs and my therapist went to work on the pressure points. I tend to get really sore in the arches of my feet, so the right pressure on those arches of my mine really are a game-changer. If you couple that with soothing music, a setting sun over the Andaman sea, time with great friends and a glass of wine awaiting me … well let’s just say I was in heaven.
The Atmosphere: The Spa is a cliffside sanctuary that like many of the spas in Thailand, boasts a strong commitment to its tried-and-true traditions. Natural luxury ingredients are geared to purify the senses. We were greeted by hints of jasmine, sandalwood, ylang ylang and lemongrass as we sipped our tea in the dramatic foyer.
Facilities & Offerings:
5 double treatment suites with baths and steam showers
Private balconies overlooking the Andaman Sea
A salon that offers pedicures, manicures, waxing and hair styling.
Oncall therapists can offer yoga, reiki, meditation and mind-body solutions.
What I loved:
The view, the view, the view. Give me a cliffside massage room and a setting sun and I am seriously done.
Foot massages are a great way to pack in a lot of pampering in a short time frame. We seriously squeezed ours in after sea-kayaking and before dinner.
The private suite.
The aromatherapy wafting throughout the dramatic Thai architecture.
Don’t be surprised:
The golf carts that take you through the narrow trails of the property can feel a little scary at times. A bit like Mr. Toad’s wild ride.
